Policy management systems

As a product-independent, impartial consulting company, we have been supporting insurance companies in the selection and individual development of policy systems for more than 15 years.

After having discussed the industrialisation of the insurance industry for several years, a growing number of companies have decided to standardise their core systems, such as policy management systems. Nevertheless, custom in-house development continues to dominate, in most cases at the expense of operating costs, a limited degree of automation and a long time-to-market.

We provide consulting services to small to medium-sized insurance companies and global corporations alike in the private, commercial and industrial insurance industries.

We offer expertise and services confirmed with excellent references in the following fields:

  • Evaluation
  • Custom development
  • Implementation of standardised systems
  • Migration

Evaluation

15 years of experience in the custom development of policy systems and excellent knowledge of product providers of standardized systems provide the basis for the successful evaluation of projects for insurance companies.

We offer streamlined tender processes (RPI/ RFP) and place emphasis on ready-made market screenings using a standardised catalogue of criteria. This evaluation provides the basis for the recommendation of the most appropriate system for your needs.

On request, we can prepare valid effort estimations for individual development. Consequently, the results provide a systematic decision protocol, facilitating any make or buy decision.

Custom development

For more than 15 years we have been developing policy systems for our clients using a wide variety of technologies, including both the development of entirely new systems and the development of complex policy management systems add-ons to existing host systems.

If necessary, we also assist in the creation of any necessary technical concepts, or combine these services in the interest of agile software development.

We specialise in the non-life insurance industry and have developed policy systems for:

  • Property insurance
  • Liability insurance
  • Motor insurance, including vehicle fleets
  • Legal protection insurance
  • Technical insurance (short- and long-term)
  • Accident and transport insurance
  • Payment protection insurance

Implementation of standardised systems

The market for providers of standardised systems has seen rapid development in recent years, and not just in Germany. Neighbouring European countries have witnessed an increase in competitive providers. We put great effort into continuously monitoring the market in order to provide our clients with the best alternatives.

We continually build partnerships with providers in Europe, to be regularly supplied with the latest product information and thereby able to professionally assess the different philosophies of the providers.

Currently we have well-established partnerships with the software providers AdCubum (Switzerland), Comarch (Poland), COR&FJA, eBao Tech (China), Geneva-ID, Guidewire (USA), intersoft, TIA (Denmark), Novum, RGi Group (Italy), SAP, WGV-Informatik, XChange (UK), and many more.

We share our knowledge of software providers with our clients. At the same time, we collaborate with our partners on joint projects, to be able to better evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of the different systems. Our staff are also trained in the latest system technologies and certified accordingly.

Migration

Any replacement of a policy system is inevitably linked to the issue of migration. Normally the migration is analysed and executed downstream. In some cases, however, the effort for the migration can potentially double the total expenditure for a new policy management.

Therefore a preliminary analysis should be executed in order to accurately estimate total expenditure from the very start.

In general we execute migrations based upon the V-Modell XT:

  • Preparation of a migration overview
    • Affected systems and objects
    • Goals of the migration
    • General conditions
  • Analysis and selection of migration strategy
    • Big Bang
    • Stepwise
  • Preparation of a rollback strategy
  • Data migration
    • Iterative migration loops
    • Preliminary testing in the target system
  • Quality management
    • Creation of checksums
    • Field testing
